Hi,
I have a pituitary tumor and have had two distinctly different
opinions on whether an operation is necessary. According to my
opthamologist, my visual fields are being affected. My eyes hurt
sometimes now since the tumor has gotten a bit larger.
I want to know is there a way to fight the changes that occur
after the pituitary gland is removed? Do we have to gain weight,
feel so horrible and have our lives change so drastically? Do
we have to take hormones and steroids that I fear will make my
life and self esteem so different? Can someone write back and
tell me if there are people that have positive effects when the
pituitary gland is removed is they have the ability, energy and
desire to attempt to keep that part of their life alive, despite
this surgery?
I do not mean to seem ignorant. I am just searching for a way
to not loose so much of my life if I have this surgery. I do understand
the necessity to take these hormones and steriods but do we have
to settle for feeling so horrible about ourselves afterwards?
I am so afraid right now.

Hi,
I have just been diagnosed with Acromegaly and underwent surgery
last week to remove the tumour, which was discrete. The surgeon
thinks they got all of the tumour. Time will tell.
I am interested in learning more about the experiences of other
people who have been diagnosed with Acromegaly and are post operative.

Hi,
I'm on year 3 of panhypopituitarism and I was a rare case for
doctors. The MRI showed a mass, and doctors thought it was a tumor.
But to their suprise it was not, It was an abscess that had the
makings of a tumor. Neuro report stated that a creamy substance
oozed from the pituitary gland. It damaged the pit gland and I'm
on all of the hormone replacement therapy.
I'm 25 years and I have a very stressful job working in a 911
communication center for a busy city. There are times it gets
stressful, but I have to keep going.
